Women Empowerment
he process of making women independent and their status at par with men is called women empowerment. From time immemorial men have been given a higher status in the society. And women have been barred with familial or societal restrictions. Empowerment refers to the entitlement of women to take charge of own personal development. Women would be empowered when they have unrestricted access to chances in every domain, like education, lifestyle, decision making, etc. the growth of the entire country depends on two pillars, men and women, and if the women lag behind in opportunities as well as literacy as the main factor the standard of living of the family is enhanced and a country where men and women work together grows more quickly.

There has been horrendous crimes against women being born without being born. People do not feel a slight ounce of shame while killing a soul when inside the womb of the mother, female foeticide. Women should account for 50% of the population of the entire population, however due to female foeticide, dowry, honour killings, domestic violence, the girl child population is rapidly declining affecting the sex ratio in a regressive manner. Women are not allowed to be literate till a certain age and are married off at a young age. Girls education must be made obligatory so that they learn about their rights and are able to support themselves financially. Regardless of gender they should be given equal representation. There has been government sponsored programmes and also in individual levels. Programmes like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Parhao’, ‘Mahila Shakti Kendra’, ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana’ and others. Improvement of women status in society will make the country a better place to live in with better standard of living and much lesser crimes against women.
